Tampa's Cost of Living

2000

Lowest in recent study compared to 13 selected metropolitan areas nationwide, Tampa is the best value for relocating professionals when it comes to cost of living, according to Runzheimer International, a Wisconsin-based management consulting firm. Runzheimer analyzed living cost in selected metropolitan areas nationwide, especially those with a major business presence, and found that cost vary dramatically.

A middle-level manager with a family of four earning an annual salary of $60,000 in his or her current location (determined by the study as the median cost location) would only need to make $56,267 in Tampa to enjoy a similar lifestyle.

In Philadelphia, that same manager would need to make $66,517 to maintain the same standard of living. According to the study, for every $93.80 spent in Tampa for food shelter and the basics of a typical middle class lifestyle, you would have to spend $110.90 in Philadelphia. Other locations with a lower cost of living include Kansas City MO ($58,057); Phoenix, AZ ($59,200) and Cincinnati, OH ($59.359).
