2004

When originally proposed in late 2003, Downtown Channelside was very controversial. It's waterfront location angered many residents who thought that Tampa's waterfront locales were already too commercialized.

The two 30 story towers (very similar to the towers at Channelside) were approved, right on the water. The project's 250 condos will be anchored by a retail complex and a grocery store. The grocery store was a pivotal part of the approval for the project, serving residents from Harbour Island, Ybor, and Channelside.

Even as the Channelside district begins Blossoming into an exciting urban community within the downtown area, the multifaceted downtown channelside development may become one of the district's premier addresses.

And exclusive luxury residences are only to start. 'Residence at downtown Channelside will have luxury living, but they'll also be right next to the best shopping, office and enterainment location in tampa,

the st. pete times forum and the florida aquarium and right outside is the new fort brook park, our residents can see a lightning game, take in a dinner and movie at channelside, ride the streetcar to ybor city or stop by the city market all within footsteps of their front door, currently in the design stage, downtown channelside will include a 36,000 square-foot urban grocery store, 10,000 square feet of 'necessity retail' such as dry cleaners and bank branches,

more than 30,000 square feet of boutique office space and two condominium towers of 125 units each, the ground level will feature shopping accessed through parking on a second level. Sophisticated conveyors will move people and shopping carts in an out of the grocery.

Residential units will start no lower than the fourth floor, so everyone will have an excellent view, the towers will be built one at a time with the east tower going up first, units will be two-bedroom condos with about 1,800 square feet and three-bedroom condos at about 2,400 square feet.

Units will be priced from the low $300,00s and range to more than $500,000 with a 24-7 city downtown channelside will offer residents all of the amenities of tampa along with fabulous panoramic views from the hillsborough bay to the skyline, atop the parking areas will be a swimming pool, whirlpool spa and health club amenities with a view of garrison channel the finish of each unit will be very similar to the residences in the "grandview" that is granite countertops in the kitchen, solid wood doors, and so on in fact''

one unit in the grandview will act as a model for the homes to be built in downtown channelside, with a healthy mix of young professionals and older empty nesters buying homes in the grandview, as an urban town center that gives you all the commercial conveniences you'd expect to find in an exisitng downtown neighborhood in any large city,, and while the number of people boarding and leaving the cruise ships and the aquarium every day need places to shop and play too'
