O2 is a $250 million proposed development. It will include a hotel, retail, office space, and condos. The lower levels will contain retail space, topped by two 41 story residential towers.
Originally called Pinnacle Place when proposed in 1994, the project was to be part of tampas "renaissance", the city of Tampa agreed to back the project as long as construction began by the year 2000, which it did not. Pinnacle Place would have contained two towers of 37 stories, plus a 625 ft observation tower. Financing for the project has been difficult and it's backer, Pinnacle Group Holdings, sold it to developer Corvus in August 2004. Corvus renamed the project O2, and lopped off the observation tower.
The O2 project will contain 340 units ranging in price from $300,000 to over $2 million.
O2 Brings Mixed-Use Condo Living To Channelside
When completed, the ambitious O2 urban village will transform the Tampa skyline with twin 41-story condominium towers.

"Finding a contiguous 6½-acre site like this in any metropolitan area is difficult, principal with Corvus International, managing partner of the O2 project. "When you acquire a piece of property like this, you want to do something special with it. Everything about O2 will be special."
O2 will contain 404 luxury condominium residences in the twin towers, and low-rise buildings with rental apartments that could be converted to condominiums in the future. The approximately 100,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor is reserved for restaurants and neighborhood specialty shops to serve O2 residents and the downtown community.
"We’re trying to design O2 to have the highest level of amenities and services so that when a resident comes home, he or she won’t have to leave for anything. "We’re taking things to the next level."
An on-site fitness center, a resort-style pool with a whirlpool spa, custom resident theaters, a handyman/craft workshop, a business center and conference room, a serenity garden, a pet walk, clubhouse, concierge and a wine cellar are among the amenities planned for O2.
"With a site this size, we have a lot of flexibility and space to do some really nice things for the residents," "The handyman/craft workshop will have some basic equipment, and it gives residents a place where they can pursue their hobbies without worrying about messing up their condo unit.
"The wine cellar will have private lockers for residents to store wine, as well as an area where they can sit and socialize. Also, there will be guest suites in each tower that residents can use when they have visitors,"
The condominium residences are the focal point of O2 that every effort is being made to create the ultimate urban homes. The state-of-the-art kitchens will feature high-end appliances, granite countertops and wood cabinets.
The bathrooms will include oversize tubs and wood cabinets, and buyers will have the choice of hardwood and marble flooring in select areas of the units.
Floor-to-ceiling windows will allow the units to be illuminated with natural light as well as provide views of downtown or the channel and bay, and the condominiums include oversize balconies.
The residences in O2 are available in one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom configurations, including three penthouses in each tower. "We have about 20 different floor plans from which to choose, "They range in size from 825 square feet up to approximately 6,000 square feet for the penthouse floors." The units are priced from the upper $300,000s to $3 million.
construction of O2 is scheduled to begin by October and will take about 29 months to complete. "We are in the process of finishing the full architectural drawings with a well-known, award-winning firm that does a lot of work with Disney,"
